 In the outback, where its a long distance between towns, these roadhouses provide food and rest to the traveller. We stopped at a lot of them.

Hamelin Pool Stromatolites - World Heritge
Shark Bay is one of only two places in the world where living marine stromatolites exist. These living fossils contain microbes similar to those found in 3,500 million year old rocks - the earliest record of life on earth. As such, the stromatolites provide a record of local environmental changes.

Drop Dunny

This is what passes for a 'facility' in the outback. Its a "drop dunny", and you need very little explanation about it! Only a good constitution and a real need to "go"! We were to meet many of these facilities enroute!

Shell Beach

 there is a beach made entirely of tiny shells which is 60 km long and about 10 feet deep in shell. Its called Shell Beach!

Project Eden

 The Peron Peninsula has been cut off from the rest of WA by an electric fence as part of the Project Eden initiative to get rid ofmintroduced species such as foxes and rabbits. Started in 1995, it has been very successful at restoring the area for its native inhabitants.
